IBISResearch

IBISResearch is powered by the Huron Research Suite (HRS). A comprehensive, enterprise-level platform used to manage the full lifecycle of research administration.

IBISResearch is used to develop, route and submit proposals, set up awards, request modifications, initiate and route ancillary reviews, create, negotiate and track agreements and create and track subawards.

Reduces the administrative burden on faculty and to provide access and transparency into the status of applications, contracts/agreements, subawards, and award notifications.

System Access

All UM Employees and Student Workers are automatically granted access to the IBISResearch Suite and can login via Single Sign On (SSO).

If you are a Vendor, Student, or other Non-UM Employee and have not been given access to our systems previously, please register for a CaneID and then complete the Research Suite Account Access Request form.

Athough each module has a dedicated login portal, Grants Module is considered the primary portal

When to use IBISResearch?
IBISResearch provides a single portal to submit and track the following activities to the Office of Research Administration:
- Proposal or Grant Application
- Contract
- Sponsored Agreement
- Award Modification Request (Rebudget, No Cost Extension, PI Change, etc)
Federal Applications

IBISResearch will be used to route proposals for department review/approval and submission to Office of Research Administration (ORA). Once ORA reviews and approves the proposal, if the applications can be submitted electronically (System-to-System), ORA will submit directly to Grants.gov (with the exception of large complext projects, i.e., Program Projects or Center Grants.). Once submittted, the Principal Investigator and the study staff can track the submission in the system.

Non-Federal Applications

For those proposals that are not being submitted directly through Grants.gov, they will be created in IBISResearch, submitted for department review and approval and routed to ORA for review. Once approved by ORA, the PI and/or study staff will submit to the sponsor directly.

Department Reviewer	Approves proposals and documentation when part of a workflow. Creates ancillary reviews as needed Also includes administrators who create and manage proposals on behalf of departments
Specialists	Create and manage proposals, awards, and award modifications (ORA Role)
Award Approver	Activate and approve awards or award modifications in Final Review (ORA Role)
