What Is the RAU Curriculum?

The Research Administration at the U (RAU) Curriculum is UM’s foundational training program for research administrators. It includes 22 mandatory courses (13 CBLs and 9 ILTs) and 7 electives, offered through a blended learning format in ULearn.

All UM staff involved in pre‑ or post‑award activities must complete the curriculum. RAU strengthens understanding of UM’s research administration processes, compliance requirements, and how daily work supports the broader research enterprise. It also helps build a skilled workforce that promotes facilitation, integrity, and best practices across sponsored projects.

Complete RAU Curriculum in ULearn

Completion Requirement

New hires must complete all mandatory RAU courses within one year of assignment. Non‑compliance will result in revoked access to key systems such as IBIS Research and Workday Grants, with progress monitored through ULearn.

RAU ensures administrators have the tools and knowledge needed to support faculty research while meeting institutional and regulatory expectations. We look forward to seeing you in an upcoming training course!
