Training for Researchers

This page provides essential training resources to assist researchers in planning and completing required courses and ensuring adherance to institutional and regulatory compliance standards. Before starting any research activities, investigators and research staff may need to complete specific training. These requirements can be based on: 

  • Federal or state regulatons
  • Sponsoring agency requirements
  • University policies 

Sometimes renewals are required after initial training. Stay informed and remain compliant.

  • Bloodborne Pathogens Biomedical Waste

    Training Applicable to Initial Requirement How to access Frequency
    UHealth's OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens, Biomedical Waste, Latex Allergy and TB Training Mandatory for anyone having potential occupational exposure to human blood or most human body fluids, unfixed human tissue, or laboratory or animal material contaminated with HIV or HBV.   • Conflict of Interest & Disclosure Process, Research Security

    Training Applicable to Initial Requirement How to access Frequency
    COI and Disclosure Process Training Any individual responsible for design, conduct, reporting of scholarly activities. Includes: faculty, clinicians, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, etc.   Upon employment/contract with the University UDisclose Annually
    Disclosure Certification Any individual responsible for design, conduct, reporting of scholarly activities. Includes: faculty, clinicians, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, etc.  Upon employment/contract with the University UDisclose Annually and within 30 days of interest change during the year. 
    Research Security All Covered Persons are required to complete annual training on Foreign Influence. This training fulfills federal and state mandates. Upon employement/contract with the University  ULearn Annually 

  • Effort Certification

  • Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR)

    Responsible Conduct of Research  Individuals whose research is supported by the NIH/AHRQ/HRSA, NSF or USDA. Read more about requirements. OVPRS has developed training modules to provide standardized introductory training to all research teams. The RCR Overview training includes four modules that cover topics such as research misconduct, reproducibility, authorship, data management, conflict of interest, social impact, and more.
