Arts & Humanities Fellowship

The UM Arts & Humanities Fellowship supports faculty in the Arts & Humanities with the goal of elevating both individual faculty careers and the University's scholarly reputation. This is intended to support the startup of new projects as well as for the advancement of existing projects.

  • Application Submission
  • Eligibility  

    • Regular, Research, and Educator faculty in the Arts or Humanities are eligible to apply. Associated faculty are not eligible for this funding opportunity. 
    • Lecturers and Senior Lecturers may apply. However, priority will be given to regular faculty. Outstanding proposals by lecturers / senior lecturers due to extraordinary merits will be considered, depending on availability of funds. 
    • The University of Miami (UM) Conflict of Interest, Conflict of Commitment, Foreign Influence, and Institutional Conflict of Interest Policy requires that all Investigators complete annual training and disclose their interests to UM through the UDisclose System. Proposals will not be considered for funding until all team members have completed the training and disclosed their outside interests. At the time of award, all COI concerns must be resolved prior to the disbursement of funds.   • Award Amount

    • The maximum award amount is $10,000. 
    • If salary support is requested, CFB must be included within the $10K total budget allowed. 
    • There are no category restrictions on budgetary requests, i.e., faculty may determine what is necessary to advance their research and scholarly activity by using funds to cover salary (except as described under “Eligibility”), travel, archival work, composition arrangement, research assistants, etc. 
    • Center for the Arts & Humanities Fellowship awardees can choose to utilize these funds for a course buyout.

  • General Timeline

    This call is offered annually in the spring semester. Award notifications are issued in March. The funding period spans June 1st through May 31st of the following year.
